A kick-off event is the starting signal. For a new financial year, a campaign, a transformation project or a freshly assembled team. And often simply the Christmas party alternative in January for companies that simply don't have the opportunity to celebrate in December due to their industry.
The expectations of a kick-off event are high - in terms of the content, the speakers and the location. And of course the party. As a DJ for kick-off events and team events, I know that music and partying are a big part of how guests experience and remember an event - and how motivated they are to go back to work afterwards.

With more than 20 years of experience from over 850 corporate events, I have accompanied kick-offs as a DJ for companies such as Vodafone, DHL, Porsche, Sephora and PwC.
And I know that many customers find kick-off events to be the better Christmas parties. Because everyone is simply more relaxed and a big party in January is something really special.
The three musical phases at a kick-off event
Depending on the occasion, kick-off events and team events have a clear programme. They often begin with arriving and networking, continue with content-related programme items such as keynotes, panels or workshops - and end, if the format allows, with a grand party.
Each of these phases needs its own sounds:
1 Reception & Arrival
The first songs of an event set the mood for the rest of the day and evening. Here I rely on relaxed, chilled sounds, i.e. music that entertains without disturbing the conversation. Lounge, acoustic covers or relaxed chill-out tracks create a welcome atmosphere in which guests immediately feel at ease.
2 Programme phases & transitions
As a DJ, I play the right tracks between the stage programme, after a keynote speech or during the transition to the break slot at kick-off events or team events. A short, energetic interlude after a powerful presentation, a calm transition before a panel discussion - this is where background music is needed.
3 After-Show & Party
When the content part is finished, I pick up the pace musically. Now it's all about celebrating the team, enjoying the evening and having fun together. At the turntables, I increase the intensity of the music with the aim of drawing as many party people to the dance floor as possible. Danceable, up-to-date mixes across all genres ensure that a mixed audience from different departments and hierarchical levels can enjoy a fantastic party together.

I always customise each DJ set, the song selection and my approach to each event, whether it's an annual kick-off event, departmental celebration, campaign launch or team-building event.
